Many years back Singtam was a small transit town.In 1950 the people of this town felt an urgent urge for having a center of learning.They wanted a school.With tireless effort and a commited dedication a small primiary school was finally established on 1st March 1950 and named as Gandhi Pathsala. The same pathsala has now become an epitome of knowledge and is known as Government Senior Secondary School Singtam. In the initial years the school was managed by a committee which was recognized by the Government of Sikkim under the reign of the King of Sikkim in the year 1953. With the passage of time the school has witnessed many changes in its journey of becoming what it is now. The School was established as a Primary School and was upgraded upto sixth (VI) standard in 1953.In 1958 it was again upgraded by one level (VII) and it took another 5 years to upgrade to its next level (VIII) (i.e. in 1963 it became Junior High School).After running as JHS for 15 long years, in 1978 it was upgraded to Secondary level (X) and in 2004 it reached its highest level (XII), which we now proudly call GOVERNMENT SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL SINGTAM.

Education is the inner strength that is imperative to rebuild the society and the nation. The vision of this school has always been guided by these goals.The dynamic faculty of this school has left no stones unturned in order to help students excel in scholastic as well as co-scholastic domain related to various aspects of education. I have been serving in this school in the capacity of the Principal since 11th October 2021 till date. With my utmost dedication and sincere effort I hope to achieve more than what we have seen and experienced in our honest pursuit of excellence in education. We shall strive for the best and nothing but the best.

Government Sr Sec School Singtam celebrate the 75th Independence Day in school premises. Shri Somnath Pandey, Sr. Medical Stores Office who is also a Active SMC Member has blessed the occasion as Chief Guest. Other SMC members including Shri Johny Rai and Shri Pradeep Sharma were also present during the function. In a brief program along with the National Flag Hoisting, NCC Cadets performed a wonderful March Past and also presented patriotic songs. NSS Volunteer Ms. Saraswati Chettri presented a beautiful poem on India's Independence.
The program was arranged by NSS Unit I & II and NCC of Singtam SSS.

I feel very proud and privileged to study in one of the most reputed institution of Sikkim. It also gives me immense pleasure that I was able to make my school and my teachers proud by becoming second state topper in class 10 in the batch 2019-2020.I received certificate and a cash prize on 26th Nov 2020 on the occasion of Constitution Day at Chintan bhawan by the hands of Our honourable Governor and Chief Minister.I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, Vice Principal and all the teachers who believed in me and constantly encouraged me when my own faith flickered.We know that there is no elevator to success, we have to work hard and the hardwork will really pay off.I will be working more and try to make my school proud again. Lastly, nothing can substitute hardwork so never give up.
